We came to a nearby Kansas town for the holidays and met up with extended family for supper. Someone local suggested we go to El Puerto in downtown McCook. Our party of six got there an hour before closing and had an absolutely perfect experience. The waitstaff was attentive, pleasant, and helpful. The atmosphere was excellent - a beautiful Christmas tree graced the entrance, the place was bustling with holiday customers. The lighting was elegant yet still casual, the updated furnishings were much nicer than the usual sit-down Mexican restaurant. And the food! Oh my gosh everything we ordered was so delicious! It was all genuinely outstanding - from the generously portioned steak quesadilla my daughter had, to the flavorful enchiladas, shrimp tacos, chicken chimichangas and sizzling fajitas. It was all so good! Even the chips were warm! We finished as the posted closing time neared, but the eloquent waiter didn't rush us at all. As we were leaving, I told one of the waitstaff, "this was fantastic!" and I meant it! We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone near McCook. It is worth the drive if you are within an hour! You will be so glad you went!

Extremely consistent food with friendly hardworking staff. We've come here for more than a decade and the once or twice there was a problem they more than made it up to us. Their competitor down the street can't hold a candle to this place

Our server was very attentive to our needs and understanding of my 14 month old and her want to play with food rather than eat it. We arrived before the lunch rush on a Friday, so we recieved our food and drink in a timely fashion. Everything was correct and hot that we ordered. It's a nice play with good food where you can enjoy time with family and friends

I found this one to be the best in McCook. Huge portions, friendly staff and the food (I usually get a combo meal) is extremely well prepared and delicious. My absolute favorite in McCook!
